About
Gulya Garside, RYT 500
I discovered yoga in 2001. I loved it straight after my first class and even thought then to myself, how wonderful it would be to become a yoga teacher one day. I had a young family back then, and the weekly yoga practice gave me both physical and emotional energy that I needed so much to stay calm and healthy. Being a keen runner and swimmer, yoga became a perfect partner to these activities, helping me with flexibility, strength and mental focus. After practising it for a few years, I was finally ready to share the knowledge and those amazing benefits that yoga practice gave me. I completed 200 hours of Yoga Teacher Training in November 2016 in the birthplace of yoga, the town of Rishikesh in India, in Anand Prakash Yoga Ashram with Yogrishi Vishvketu (Vishva-ji), a Hymalayan Yoga Master and Internationally renowned yoga teacher.
The following year, having implemented into my personal and teaching practice everything that I had leant in RishikeshI, I travelled to India once again to deepen my knowledge of yoga and Ayurveda. In December 2017 I completed 300 hours of Yoga Teacher Training in AyurYoga Eco Ashram near Mysore in the south of India. I am so grateful to my teachers, Krish Varma, Vinod, Sanjay, Krishna, Uma and Prabodh, it was an amazing experience.
Learning traditional yoga in India, the place where yoga originated from, allowed me to look beyond the physical aspect of it, and deeper into its spiritual origin.
I still combine regular running with daily yoga practice and feel that these activities compliment each other perfectly and keep me strong, healthy and happy. I would love to share my knowledge and experience with you!
